The Challenge
N1_Impact Consulting supported Costa Rica's Ministry of Public Education (MEP) in reengineering key regional processes using Lean methodologies. The project strengthened visibility, coordination, and decision-making on critical issues such as school dropout, IT implementation, and program adjustments. Leaders adopted agile workflows and structured problem-solving tools, improving efficiency and responsiveness. This initiative elevated operational excellence and helped MEP deliver more effective, data-driven educational services.
N1_Impact Consulting collaborated with the Ministerio de Educación Pública (MEP) of Costa Rica to support the Regional Leadership Team in redesigning and optimizing their core educational processes. The engagement focused on building modern, agile workflows for key regional operations, empowering leaders with practical Lean tools, and establishing a structured approach to diagnose and resolve operational challenges. As a result, MEP achieved clearer understanding and prioritization of high-impact topics such as school dropout trends, IT system implementation gaps, and adjustments in academic programs and school operations.
By integrating Lean principles into daily management, regional leaders improved efficiency, reduced process variability, and increased responsiveness to emerging educational needs. This initiative contributed to a more aligned, data-informed, and proactive management model within MEP — supporting the institution's mission to deliver quality, equitable education across the country. This project highlights the value of applying operational excellence in the public education sector, enabling faster improvement cycles, stronger problem-solving capabilities, and more effective service to students and communities.
